DMG CRS offers families a state-of-the-art facility with a friendly, professional environment. It is the largest Multi-Specialty Interdisciplinary Clinic (MSIC) in Arizona and is designed to meet the unique healthcare requirements of special needs children and their families. Centrally located in an easy-to-access, one-story facility, DMG CRS is home to more than 85 medical providers across 30 medical specialties, including primary care, as well as behavioral health, dental, rehabilitation, educational and support services to care for patients from birth to age 21. Providing coordinated, integrated care, DMG CRS primary care and therapy providers work directly with specialty physicians to deliver comprehensive treatment, utilizing one electronic medical record (EMR). In addition, service teams such as nutrition and diet, child life and social work collaborate with our renowned team of pediatric medical professionals to provide vital support to our patients.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Accepts and reviews referrals in accordance with established AZ Division of Developmental disabilities.
  • Completes and sends appropriate forms to parent or case manager, prepares report and provides copies to case manager, drafts goals, updates present levels and progress; when assessment or IEP is required at least three days in advance of IEP.
  • Provides content areas support for special education service providers in the area of augmentative communication strategies.
  • Provides technical assistant to Speech and Language Pathologists in the assessment of student needs, selections of technology, funding and implementation of assistive technology support.
  • Diagnoses and provides therapy for individual and groups of learners.
  • Plans, administers and interprets student evaluations.
  • Prepares written reports as required.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with parents, guardians and significant others.
  • Meets with parents on a regular basis to review student progress and works on individual educational-related needs.
  • Works closely with other members of the program staff to develop and maintain curriculum and standards.
  • Coordinates transition plans for student moving to other environments.
  • Works cooperatively with personnel from the student’s district of residence and/or outside agencies providing services to the student and family.
  • Schedules and maintains individual and group therapy program in accordance with student’s needs and Individual EducationsPlans (IEP).
  • Provides training, direction and supervision for assigned ancillary staff.
  • Complies with the rules and regulations set forth in Federal and State special education laws and regulations.

Education or Equivalency

  •  Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology
  • AZ State Speech Pathology License
  • Advanced training in Augmentative Communication is desirable

Experience

  • Clinical Experience as required for Speech and Language Pathologist credential.
  • Experience required demonstrating knowledge, skills and abilities related to the alternative and augmentative communication. 

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of subject area and current research based in instructional methodologies, technology and techniques associated with students having communication delays and disabilities.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with alternative and augmentative communication principles and strategies
  • Knowledge of available technology and potential funding sources related to augmentative communication.
  • Ability to teach students in a wide variety of levels and age ranges.
  • Ability to work effectively with parents, community and education colleagues in and outside the program.
  • Ability to provide training in the use and evaluation of the effectiveness of alternative and augmentative communication tools and strategies.
  • Ability to function as a positive, contributing member of an educational team.
  • Skills in administration, analysis, and interpretation of a wide range of assessment measures, including functional communication assessments.

  • Work is performed in an office or school environment, continuous contact with staff, and representative of other agencies

FTE Status/Scheduled Hours of Work:

  • This is a PRN position, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required and/or hours may be shortened as job duties demand.

 

EnvironmentalWorking Conditions

  • Normal clinical environment.
  • The noise level of the work environment is usually low to moderate.
