Maternal-Fetal Medicine Physician Opportunity

2601 East Roosevelt, Phoenix AZ 85008, United States

District Medical Group (DMG) is a nonprofit, integrated medical group practice of over 450 providers representing more than 25 medical and surgical specialties, serving the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. We are seeking a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) physician to join our collaborative, mission-driven team based at Valleywise Health Medical Center (VHMC).

This position offers a consultation-focused MFM practice, providing a unique opportunity to deliver high-level, specialized care without delivery responsibilities. Physicians in this role focus on high-risk obstetric consultation, advanced ultrasound, prenatal diagnostics, and multidisciplinary care. The practice is thoughtfully structured to support both clinical excellence and a sustainable work-life balance.

VHMC serves as the safety-net hospital for Maricopa County and provides care to a diverse and medically complex patient population. MFM physicians care for patients in both clinic and hospital settings and participate in shared home call coverage for VHMC and the Arizona Perinatal Program. The clinical program includes comprehensive high-risk obstetric services, including ultrasound, diagnostic testing, genetic counseling, and diabetes education, allowing physicians to practice at the full scope of consultative maternal-fetal medicine.

This role offers meaningful opportunities to teach, mentor, and shape the next generation of physicians through academic involvement and leadership. DMG MFM physicians serve as core faculty for the Creighton University integrated OB/GYN Residency and MFM Fellowship, hosted at VHMC and St. Joseph’s Hospital/Dignity Health. The program includes a total of 32 residents and one MFM fellow per year, creating a rich and dynamic learning environment.

The practice is further strengthened by academic affiliations with Creighton University, the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, and Arizona State University, with opportunities to obtain academic ranks and teach medical students across these institutions. Physicians are encouraged to engage in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and scholarly work—with lots of opportunities in areas such as healthcare disparities, refugee women’s health, and federally funded research programs.

Beyond the clinical and academic experience, DMG offers an exceptional work culture grounded in collegiality, collaboration, and a shared commitment to serving underserved communities. This is a practice where physicians are supported in their professional growth while doing deeply meaningful work that improves maternal and fetal outcomes.

Living in Phoenix offers an outstanding quality of life, with over 300 days of sunshine each year, vibrant cultural and dining scenes, and easy access to outdoor activities including hiking, biking, and weekend trips to destinations such as Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Phoenix combines the amenities of a major metropolitan area with a welcoming and livable environment, making it an ideal place to build both a career and a home.

Qualifications include an M.D. or D.O. degree, board certification or eligibility in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and eligibility for Arizona medical licensure. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical excellence, education, and team-based care.

DMG offers a highly competitive compensation and benefits package, including generous paid time off, CME allowance with dedicated CME time, and employer-paid malpractice insurance.

Join a practice that brings together clinical excellence, academic engagement, and purpose-driven care in one of the most desirable and rapidly growing cities in the country.
