The Divisions of Trauma and Psychiatry at Valleywise Health Medical Center (VHMC) in Phoenix, AZ are seeking a full-time neuropsychologist to join the Psychiatry and Surgery faculty. Valleywise Health Medical Center is a 449-bed hospital that sees nearly 20,000 inpatient admissions every year. VHMC is a Level 1 Trauma Center and is home to the Arizona Burn Center, Arizona’s only nationally-verified burn center. The successful applicant will be the Neuropsychology Liaison to the Division of Trauma and will provide consultation services to the Trauma and Burn services. Inpatient responsibilities include cognitive screenings, brief bedside assessment, and coma emergence tracking, as well as provision of therapeutic support to patients and their family members. Successful applicants will also be expected to see consultations in the outpatient trauma clinic, as well as conduct comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations in the outpatient neuropsychology clinic.
Candidates must have a breadth of neuropsychological experience, including both pediatric and adult cases. This is primarily a clinical position, although opportunities exist for the pursuit of clinically-based research, as well as for teaching in the Psychiatry and General Surgery residency training programs, as well as affiliated medical schools: Creighton University School of Medicine and The University of Arizona School of Medicine. Faculty appointment is available at both medical schools to those involved in teaching. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from an APA-accredited institution and have completed post-doctoral training in neuropsychology. The candidate must be licensed or licensed-eligible in the State of Arizona and be board certified (or eligible) in clinical neuropsychology according to the Houston Conference Training Guidelines.
