Pathologists' Assistant (Part-time)
District Medical Group (DMG) is seeking candidates for a part-time Pathologist Assistant to work in our Pathology Department at Valleywise Health Medical Center (under supervision of a licensed, board-certified Anatomic Pathologist), with the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a basic health-science preparatory program with a Pathologists’ Assistant specialization. Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, or equivalent.
Selected part-time Pathologists’ Assistants would cover vacations and assist with gross specimens that could not be processed during routine hours. There is a great deal of flexibility with days and hours including nights or weekends.
Duties would include gross description and dissection of large and small surgical specimens using EPIC (LIS).
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Understanding of compliance with relevant health care environment regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, and Fraud and Abuse laws and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to operate standard office machines and equipment, including telephones, computers, copy machines, fax machines, calculators, scanners and shredder.
- Must be well organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work extended hours when needed and directed by Department Chair.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within prescribed routines and standards of accepted practice.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or federal, state and local standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards and DMG attendance policies.

DMG Employee Health Requirements:
As a condition of employment, District Medical Group (DMG) requires each employee to remain compliant with mandatory employee health (EH) standards. TB screening, Hep B, MMR, TDAP, Varicella, and Influenza Immunizations (or approved declinations) are required for employment with a clinical role with DMG.
