Pathologists' Assistant (Part-time)

District Medical Group (DMG) is seeking candidates for a part-time Pathologist Assistant to work in our Pathology Department at Valleywise Health Medical Center (under supervision of a licensed, board-certified Anatomic Pathologist), with the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in health-science for Pathologists’ Assistant. Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, or equivalent is preferred.

OR

• Earned associate degree in a chemical or biological science or medical laboratory technology, obtained from an accredited institution; or Pathologists’ Assistant certification or education/training equivalent to the above that includes the following: 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution. This education must include 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses, or 24 semester hours of science courses that includes six semester hours of chemistry, six semester hours of biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination and meets the College of American Pathologists guidelines for grossing high complexity specimens. CAP Standard ANP.11610.

Selected part-time Pathologists’ Assistants would cover vacations and assist with gross specimens that could not be processed during routine hours. There is a great deal of flexibility with days and hours including nights or weekends.

Duties would include gross description and dissection of large and small surgical specimens using EPIC (LIS).

As a condition of employment, District Medical Group (DMG) requires each employee to remain compliant with mandatory employee health (EH) standards.
