The Systems Administrator will provide the highest level of system administration service and expertise, under limited supervision, to support, administer, and maintain the installation, configuration, performance, and operation of all enterprise systems at DMG. These systems include Microsoft Servers, IIS, and SQL Further configuration may include replication and redundancy between multiple data centers, completion of all appropriate written documentation, extension of outstanding customer and technical support, provision of on-call after hours support and routine monthly maintenance through an on-call rotation and established monthly system weekend patch window, and for making critical decisions involving the use of limited resources in an effort to repair and restore services during system outages. In addition, the Systems Administrator is responsible for system and application upgrades, updates and patches. The Systems Administrator is responsible for securing company data and other resources and ensuring data availability and disaster recovery.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform enterprise systems and application support at the highest level of technical expertise mostly independently, but occasionally with assistance from other Information Technology (IT) professionals and vendor provided support services, of enterprise systems including, file/print services, SQL, Sharepoint and Active Directory in addition to the storage utilized by these systems.
  • Monitor all business and clinical applications and infrastructure
    • document and analyze problems, and publish a maintenance schedule
    • Monitoring core server and network metrics like CPU, disk usage, DNS, and latency to detect incidents.
    • Setup alerts based on monitoring thresholds to receive on-call notifications in case of major incidents.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations, monitoring, and performance tuning of an enterprise Active Directory Windows environment supporting multiple domains and IT divisions for the entire Company.
  • Work with and maintain Active Directory accounts, security groups, group policies, server based shared directories and user permissions. Assure adherence to departmental Service Level Agreements.
  • Sets up administrator and service accounts for applications as necessary
  • Providing end-user support, resolving technical issues and providing technical assistance for all operating systems and applications
  • Provide on-call support based on a rotation and apply necessary patches during the established patch window that occurs once a month on a weekend.
  • Install, configure, monitor, troubleshoot and maintain enterprise server class software and hardware with little or no assistance. This includes file servers and load balanced applications within a high availability environment that includes multiple data centers.
  • Ensure Healthcare applications are properly configured to meet internal needs and external requirements as well as to ensure security and privacy.
  • Provisioning of systems using physical, virtual and clustered technologies to satisfy current uptime service levels of the existing infrastructure as well as implementing new features to ensure productivity and security.
  • With limited supervision, install, configure and support various line-of-business applications using deployment plans or other automation techniques and services.
  • Manage and maintain SSL certificates.
  • Interface with appropriate individuals, which includes contractors and customers both within and external to the IT department, to coordinate support, installation, and maintenance of enterprise systems.
  • Provide support for Windows based network server infrastructure such as Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and Hypervisor Virtual Environment.
  • Maintain backup system and ensure backups are successfully completed, periodically tested, and are in compliance with best practices.
  • Leads and participates in efforts to develop and implement processes for application and system monitoring
  • Leads and participates in efforts to implement application updates to include upgrades, patches, and new releases
  • Develops test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs
  • Develop work plans and track/report status of assigned projects/tasks
  • Fully responsible for problem management activities such as issue resolution and root cause analysis
  • Manage policies and procedures around the way files are organized and shared within the organization. ensuring appropriate, easy access to files for employees.
  • As needed, restore files, directories, objects, complete servers, etc. from backups.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • At a senior level, proven experience with Microsoft system administration, installation and on-going maintenance.
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot systems, provide users technical support, and make critical decisions on the use of limited premier support services.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with software and tools for file server migrations, troubleshooting and performance tuning. Interface with database administrators and other IT professionals to coordinate installation and maintenance of applications to support enterprise line of business systems.
  • Extremely detail oriented, proactive self-starter demonstrating a positive, willing attitude and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, follow through on all assigned tasks, and exercise good time management skills.
  • Ability to consistently meet or exceed expectations on projects and provide guidance on policies to other departments.
  • Exhibit skills required to embrace change and actively participate in planning short and long term goals to meet shifting business requirements.
  • Ability to interact positively and effectively with staff members at all levels within the organization and work with management to resolve critical matters of significance that effect the team or customers.
  • Ability to adjust smoothly to changes in priorities and manages time effectively with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to provide on-call 24 X 7 services on a rotation, visit data centers in different geographical locations, and apply system patches on the established monthly patch weekend.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or federal, state and local standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.

Education or Equivalency - Please indicate on resume

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification or Education in Microsoft System Administration
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business or related field; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Experience Requirements:

  • 3-5 years’ experience working with an IT Systems infrastructure environment that includes experience working in various levels of management to successfully manage timelines, installation deliverables, and end user expectations.
  • 3 years of related experience in a multi domain and complex enterprise environment.
  • 3 years of experience with server class hardware and storage systems, administration, and Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Demonstrated experience with software. Administration experience with Microsoft SQL 2005, 2008 & 2012. Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Experience serving as a liaison between the business community and an Information Technology department.
